La Cala Golf - America (North)
La Cala Golf - America (North) Mijas, Malaga, Costa Del Sol SPAIN

La Cala Resort boasts three 18-hole championship courses, the Campo America, the Campo Asia and the Campo Europa. All three offer different challenges to all levels of golfers and demand good course management in addition to a wide variety of shots. The natural features of the La Cala terrain have been used to challenging effect by the renowned golf course architect, Cabell B. Robinson.

Campo America, formerly the North Course, measures some 6,009 metres and is a par 73, with five par 5s.

The hilly topography requires a lot of carry across steep brush-covered side slopes. The wide fairways and rough areas and more "joined" fairways make this a slightly easier driving course than Campo Asia. In addition, there are fewer fairway bunkers. There are water hazards on the 9th and 16th.

Four of the par 5s are reachable in two (holes 1, 9, 15 and 18), and the par 3s are quite spectacular and testing.

Campo America requires accurate and well-judged shot-making on the approach as nearly three quarters of the greens are perched or slightly elevated.

The resort contains extensive practice facilities. There is a large putting green situated beside the clubhouse and a separate green with two sand bunkers for short game practice and a driving net.

There is a large grass driving range attached to the David Leadbetter Academy that is open to all La Cala customers.

The six-hole par 3 course located beside the David Leadbetter Golf Academy is one of the finest short game practice facilities on the Costa del Sol.

The resort is the location for the only David Leadbetter Academy in Spain, which offers lessons and group classes for both beginners and experienced players.

Everything for the golfer can be found at the La Cala pro shop.

The clubhouse has been designed in the style of a traditional Andalucian-style cortijo or farmhouse. The 19th Hole (Hoyo 19) is the favoured meeting place before and after a round.
