Bellavista Golf | ![]() |
The present Bellavista Golf Club was officially opened on the 25th October, 1976, on which was formerly the golf club of Huelva, one of the oldest golf clubs in Spain, established in 1916 by British workers in the Rio Tinto Mine, who brought one of their favourite sports, the game of golf, to Spain. The first 9 holes of the Bellavista Golf Course, which opened in 1976, was designed by the architect Luis Rescasens, and a further nine holes, created under the guidance of Mendez Quiepo de Llano, were added in 1995.
Bellavista Golf Course, situated 3 km from the sea, offers a great golfing challenge to all levels of golf players, with narrow fairways and a few doglegs. The small distance between greens and tees will make your round enjoyable, quicker, and much more comfortable. The course is much more undulating than many others in the area, even though it is near the sea.
Many are fooled by the fact that Bellavista is only a par-70 course – it is much trickier than you might think, especially as there are several long par-4’s and par-5’s, as well as a few tight fairways. The older part of the course is characterized by numerous pine trees and some interesting doglegs, with plenty of opportunities to hit the ball out of bounds. Among its most difficult holes, the 7th (par 4) stands out, requiring a drive to an uphill lie then a second shot downhill to a small green which is well protected by bunkers.
This is true members club in the British style. This course is ideal for year round enjoyment thanks to the mild climate. To have played a round at one of the oldest courses in a country which has become the biggest golf destination in Europe should be enough for most true golfers.
Bellavista Golf has a beautiful clubhouse with a bar and restaurant. There are a variety of practice facilities including putting green, driving range and pitching green. Other sports and leisure amenities, such as tennis courts (floodlit), squash courts, saunas and outdoor swimming pool, are also available.
