Alcaidesa Links Golf

At Alcaidesa golf is ever-present, with its 36 magnificent holes spread out all over the resort. Apart from the classic Links-type course, which has been Alcaidesa’s flagship since 1992, since 2007 there is a new Heathland one, which recovers the gently undulating landscape and typical groves of the area. Thanks to Dave Thomas, the famous golf course designer, this golf course is now the best setting for any type of golf championship.

LINKS GOLF COURSE

The topography of the terrain in Alcaidesa consists of rolling hillsides sloping gently to the sea and ending in a stunningly beautiful beach. It has almost 2 km of beachfront. A considerable number of its holes give on to the beach, between sand dunes only partially covered by vegetation. The course has an uninterrupted 18-hole round beginning at the first hole by the Clubhouse and not returning to the latter until the 18th, also located by the Clubhouse. The difficulty on the course mainly concerns the prevailing winds in the area. One of the peculiarities that most impresses the visitor are the spectacular views of the Mediterranean, the Straits of Gibraltar and North Africa, and the unobstructed views of the sea from virtually any location on the course.

Alcaidesa Links Golf Club, which opened in 1992, is an experience that cannot be found anywhere else in Spain, it is the best links course in Spain. Located to the west of San Roque, in an area rich with enthusiastic golfers the course has recently undergone an extensive programme of remodelling, fairways have been improved and widened. The rules of the Real Federacion Española de Golf will apply. Local Rules:

OUT OF BOUNDS :
White stakes, fences and stone walls bounding the course.

INMOVABLE OBSTRUCCIONS :
All lanes and paths, irrespective of surface, staked trees, sprinkler towers and heads: Drop whithout penalty. ( Rules 24 – 2b ).

STONES IN BUNKERS :
Are considered movable obstructions ( Rules 24 – 1 ).

HOLE 7 :
If the Fence crossing the Fairway, interfears with the Stance or the Swing, the Player has to drop without penalty, at one of the two droping zones. ( Rule 24 – 2 ).
